About Jagtar

For over half a century the Insaf family has expressed it's heritage as a leading textile trader from British India.

After a first visit to Siam (now known as Thailand) in 1902, Insaf Ji continued his journeys to Siam, Burma and Malaya. In 1947 he decided to settle permanently in Bankok with his family, and was soon firmly involved in the textile business.

In 1981 Rak Singhaschathet, a third generation family member, began working with Thai silk weavers in North-east Siam, taking his father's name to create the Jagtar label. In 1990 he was inspired by American fabric stylist Ralph Webb to register the Jagtar label as a Fashion Editor.

Over the past twenty years Jagtar has established itself as one of the leading labels for Thai silk fabrics, with it's products widely used by designers, architects, retail outlets and luxury hotels. Attention to detail, plus accent on quality, has established Jagtar to become first choice of the discerning buyer.
